Biography

Giuseppe Maggiolini (Parabiago, 1738–1814) was the pre-eminent cabinet-maker and marquetry-maker in Milan in the later 18th century. His style evolved towards sober neoclassical forms enriched with figurative marquetry, executed after designs by painters such as Andrea Appiani and the architect Giocondo Albertolli. Named intarsiatore to the Habsburg court, he served an aristocratic clientele reaching as far as Austria and Poland.
