Born in 1757 in Possagno into a family of stonecutters, Antonio Canova is regarded as a major figure of Neoclassical sculpture. Trained in Venice and settled in Rome from 1781, he produced works such as Psyche Revived by Cupid's Kiss, The Three Graces and the funerary monument to Pope Clement XIII. He worked for Napoleon and his family. He died in Venice in 1822.
